A day after Thanksgiving feast with friends...
We went to our friends house on Friday and spent the day letting the kids play and eating a lot more food. There were several deep fried turkeys, faijtas (spicy) and lots of beer for those of us not driving. Larry and Norma's children are only months apart from Johnny and Meghan and have been very close since they could walk.

A Family Thanksgiving in San Antonio
Kevin serving pie to his parents, Wayne and Darlene.
We had a wonderful visit and loved spending some quality time with everyone. We are looking forward to going back at Christmas. The men were busy working on the new addition to the house so instead of deep fried turkey, I got to try a new brined roasted turkey recipe. Thanks to Martha Stewart it turned out wonderful. We also had an incredible honey glazed spiral ham with every side dish in the world. It was quite a group effort and turned out wonderful.
We missed my family very much and it is always hard to be away from Tarah during the holidays but we take comfort in the fact that everyone was together in Amarillo for Thanksgiving. We are grateful that everyone is doing so well and we know how lucky we all are in these difficult times.

We caught some awful bug!!!
Well somehow Kevin, Johnny, Meghan and I caught some hideous stomach bug. Poor Johnny spent 12 hours through the night throwing up. They are both feeling better now but Kevin and I are having a hard time of it.

Meghan starts battling winter Asthma early!
We had Meghan's first doctor visit this morning. As much as we would love to keep her in a bubble, we let her go into the germ filled world. She caught a cough and cold from someone at church or mom's day out and we had to get her a z-pack and some cough meds. So far her wheezing is under control but we like to keep a close eye on her. The last thing we want is for her to go into resp. distress like last year. I will never forget that day at Children's. Her oxygen level was down to 70% and her breathing rate was 90per min. Her whole chest would pull in when she tried to breathe. We are lucky that she has access to the best asthma/allergy doctor in DFW. We also have a great pedi and family doctor. Between the three of them working together and available 24/7, I think she will have an uneventful winter. In the spring she will have her tonsils and adenoids removed and then she begins a 25 week course of allergy shots. The goal is to cure her allergies which triggers her asthma and be able to reduce and/or eliminate the adult steroids she takes to manage her current symptoms. Please pray for a healthy winter for our precious little princess.
